Walking tours around Cliff

Cliff mine shafts 3 and 4 Linked Google Earth marker map Note: the Keweenaw County Road Commission owns the Cliff Mine site, and have no problem encouraging individuals in the pursuit of historical and geological interests. They do not own the logging road. The logging trucks cannot see you, they are concentrating on getting their load down safely. If you hear a logging truck coming, get well off the path!

Why (Es)Carp(ment) Lake? This was where Joseph Rawlings worked as an engineer before he returned to Cliff mine and designed and installed the man engine. Presumably he had a hand in this machinery, too.
